Originally posted in Valkyrian Music. Being the younger band (they were formed in late 2012), TEoG played first. They’ve been gathering a solid fan base – me included – since the very beginning and especially after the release of the “Lost In Transition” EP, … Continue reading →

REVOLUTION WITHIN @ Portugal W:O:A Metal Battle, 2014/01/25

Posted on March 1, 2014 by Pieni

Not much to say about REVOLUTION WITHIN that I haven’t said previously.  And precisely because of that, it didn’t come as a surprise that also them passed on to the final round. Yeah, it’s weird that two bands from the same … Continue reading →

Posted on February 27, 2014 by Pieni

I was sure I had never seen NEBULOUS before, so either ENDAMAGE had changed their name and recruited HEAVENWOOD-Marcelo for the drums, or they had got together under a new name and started another band from scratch. It was the … Continue reading →

MONOLYTH @ Portugal W:O:A Metal Battle, 2014/01/25

Posted on February 27, 2014 by Pieni

MONOLYTH is a progressive death metal band formed in 2009 but of whom I’ve honestly never heard of before. They were good, though. They’re currently finishing their debut album (saw on Facebook that it’s in the mixing phase already), but … Continue reading →

Laughing is good, but there’s a time and a place for everything. And since Wacken Open Air is such a big deal in the metal community, giving the chance of playing there to a joke band like LOS HERMANOS MASCARADOS … Continue reading →

This gallery contains 60 photos.

Originally posted in Valkyrian Music. Also Lacrimas Profundere, playing for the first time in Portugal, had their fair share of fans. Their latest album “Antiadore”, although not bombastic, is still pretty good, missing innovation and originality, which at the same time can be … Continue reading →

PAGAN ALTAR @ XX HardMetalFest, 2014/01/11

Posted on February 23, 2014 by Pieni

Originally posted in Valkyrian Music. The spirits cooled down a bit with the British doom of Pagan Altar. But as soon as Terry Jones got on stage, in his Victorian outfit and embraced by blue smoke, the power went down! It had already … Continue reading →

SWITCHTENSE @ XX HardMetalFest, 2014/01/11

Posted on February 22, 2014 by Pieni

Originally posted in Valkyrian Music. Now I’ve been talking about all these great gigs but not given the highest rating. I’m not being overly strict; I just wanted to be fair with Switchtense, as I honestly believe theirs was slightly better than … Continue reading →

DEMENTIA 13 @ XX HardMetalFest, 2014/01/11

This gallery contains 57 photos.

Originally posted in Valkyrian Music. As there is a punk band in Brisbane called Dementia 13, I should call your attention that this is the Portguese old school death metal one. Formed barely three years ago, they’re already some kind of cult … Continue reading →

ALBERT FISH @ XX HardMetalFest, 2014/01/11

Posted on February 11, 2014 by Pieni

Originally posted in Valkyrian Music. Albert Fish is not only a cannibal rapist serial killer from the late 1800, it is also a street punk band, and as singer Gustavo himself said, they’re not used to play in that kind of festival, more into … Continue reading →
