Replacing such a charismatic band as MY DYING BRIDE isn’t an easy task for anyone – even if they’re a doom band like MDB -, but bringing such melancholy to a festival so dynamic makes it even harder. DESIRE tried to adapt, but screaming “Make some noise!” when they play what they play, ended up sounding weird, startling their own fans, who didn’t even recognize the current line-up. On the other hand, 20 years had passed since their last album “Locus Horrendus – The Night Crisis Of A Sullen Soul…”, and 13 since the “Crowfix” EP, meaning all songs were more than well known among said fans, who didn’t leave the front rows until the last chords of “The Purest Dreamer”. Those who liked more excitement took the time to grab some dinner, but those who had a soft spot for suffering in musical form, applauded them eagerly.
