IHSAHNVOA

» IHSAHN, the band, is formed by the man with the same name plus LEPROUS, a progressive metal band from the same city, Notodden.

“The Barren Lands” kicked off an excellent concert, which many had eagerly been waiting for.

Besides the quality of the musicians, I point out the stage presence of keyboardist Einar Solberg, also ex-member (live session) of EMPEROR.

Following “Called By The Fire”, Ihsahn continued in the fire-theme: saying very matter-of-factly that some of us may know that before this “solo thing” he was now in, he used to play “in this band back in Norway”, and he had thought about playing some of those older songs. “Is that okay?”. The answer was obvious and, adding that it was a song that actually hadn’t been played live much, EMPEROR‘s “The Tongue Of Fire” followed up.

They also played “Unhealer” (here without Mikael Åkerfeldt), “Citizen” and “Frozen Lakes On Mars”, going through another EMPEROR song, “Thus Spake The Nightspirit” (which the audience went along with both clapping hands and singing), finishing with “On The Shores” and the words “It’s been a pleasure. Thank you very much!”. «
