» When the first chords of “The Great Conjuration” echoed, a choir of “oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh” in the same tones made itself heard across all corners.
Mikael Åkerfeldt was pretty amused, making us scream repeatedly for Vagos, OPETH, each member of the band… He also told us he had been at the beach with his daughter Melinda (who was really sleepy, hugging a teddy bear, in one corner of the stage), or how he had been a huge fan of David Vincent from MORBID ANGEL when he was younger. In fact, they would play a song inspired by MORBID ANGEL, but not then. Now it was time for “In My Time Of Need”.
By the end of that song, there he was talking about the American band again, asking the audience to do him a favor and scream for David Vincent, introducing afterwards the “inspired” song, “Master’s Apprentices”.
I went home around this time, so I can’t tell you which other jokes Åkerfeldt might have said, but according to the testimony of some great fans of the band, I can say this was one of the best, if not the best OPETH concert in Portugal, and that they’ve finished with “Deliverance”.«
