Good folk metal bands always turn their concerts into big parties, and they manage to move even those whose cup of tea isn’t folk – which is my case. But the vibe was so on fire that I found myself banging my head (in fact, my whole body) to the sound of ENSIFERUM. Bassplayer Sami Hinkka was particularly unstoppable.
Songs such as “From Afar”, “Twilight Tavern” and “Ahti” put everybody screaming and dancing, just like last year in Vagos. But this time, being indoors, I think one could feel the response of the fans better, closer.
When Petri Lindroos said he would like to take us “Into Battle”, the lights became red and stayed that way during the whole song, probably to resemble the blood of a battle field. And in “Lai Lai Hei”, near the end, the audience showed they had very good lungs to scream those three little words. “Iron” closed those happy 45 minutes.
