Original Portuguese version on World Of Metal.
I always get this feeling that it isn’t easy for an instrumental band to win over a crowd that isn’t exclusively theirs, but that’s what happened with HEAVY OCEAN. There were a few people familiar with their work, yes, but most of the presents were waiting for the upcoming bands. That work, so far, consists in the full-length “H/O”, and even though I don’t know which tracks they’ve played (without sung parts, there was no introductions – the mike was only used by guitarist Ricardo Vasconcelos to thank everyone involved – audience included – near the end), I’ll bet on the two singles “Ten Ton Heart” and “Numb”. What I’m sure of is the excellence of the post-metal they create and of how they perform it on stage, of how even without words they call out to the crowd (especially Tiago Oliveira, who stands up behind his drum kit waving his arms, demanding a loud response from us). Whatever the story behind their name, it lives up to their traits.
