Even though I’d never heard of them before, KHALAS (“enough” in Arabic) have been playing Arabic Rock (“a combination of sensual Arabic rhythms with Rock’n’Roll guitars”) for 12 years. But it seems they’ve been targeting just their home country Israel and only now they decided to “make the whole world dance”. I don’t know about the “whole world”, but that night they did make Hard Club shake those bodies.
“Arabic Rock Orchestra” is their second album and had been released about a week before of the show, which included an improvised belly dancer: at some point, guitarist Abed Hathout asked if anyone in the audience could belly dance and there was a girl who actually did. She got on stage and turned the whole Arabic scene even more realistic.
