» Also LACUNA COIL were pretty excited about playing in Portugal again, after so many years. And Cristina Scabbia said at some point that they wouldn’t let another decade go by until they’d returned.
With “Dark Adrenaline”, a few shades less mainstream and a general image more sober and heavier, the Italians deserved headlining the first day of the festival. Labelled as laternative rock for some time now, live they’re actually closer to alternative metal, given their vigorous performance. The band – without bass player Marco Coti Zelati, who’s recovering from an arm injury – focused mainly on their latest three albums, including the DEPECHE MODE cover “Enjoy The Silence”, where Scabbia let the crowd sing the chorus all by themselves. But they didn’t skip “Heaven’s A Lie”.
“Trip The Darkness” and (“… just before we get out, are you guys ready to be…”) “Spellbound” were the grand finale of this first day of gigs – yes, it’s convenient to say “gigs”, as the party went on with some (metal) DJs. «
