The headliners of the second day were stoner rockstars MISS LAVA. The show got delayed due to technical problems and they were final over, singer Johnny Lee joked, blaming a cheap chain store where the musicians – not the gear – had come from. Later on the teasing would go on, towards bassist Ricardo Ferreira, as Johnny said he was an Ukrainian the band had found in some construction site (Portugal has a lot of Ukrainians working in that field).
The third album, “Sonic Debris”, would be released one month later (May 20th) so MISS LAVA took the chance to promote it by playing a handful of new songs, like “Another Beast Is Born”, “The Silent Ghost Of Doom”, “In The Arms Of The Freaks” or “Fangs Of Venom”. The encore also included a new one, “At The End Of The Light” plus one of the very first hits – and actually my favorite – “Sleep With The Angels”. Then, to compensate for the early problems as well as reward the crowd for their amazing response, they played “Catch The Fire”, originally not on the setlist. What a hell of a show!
