Much more anticipated were DIMMU BORGIR, and the expectations were met – despite the recorded second vocals. If the female backtracks of Agnete Kjølsrud in “Gateways” are understandable, it’s kind of sad that, thirteen years later, they haven’t found yet a bass player who can also sing the clean parts, like ICS Vortex did.
Shagrath was pretty talkative, pushing the crowd, even if it didn’t take much for the latter to express their enthusiasm towards the performance of the Norwegian symphonic black metal act. “There are only two words tonight: DIMMU (pause) BORGIR“, and those two words must have echoed throughout the whole county. A set-list which combined classics and more recent songs in perfect balance, coming to an end with “Mourning Palace” and “Blessings Upon The Throne Of Tyranny”.
