LACUNA COIL @ Laurus Nobilis Music Fest, 2022/07/23

For Thais.

Original Portuguese version on World Of Metal.

I don’t think I’m wrong when I say that, despite the impact of this double dose of brutality, it was LACUNA COIL the great majority of the crowd was longing for. “Black Anima” was almost three years old, but with COVID in-between, it seemed it had been released the day before and it was the focus of the Italians, who brought us songs such as “Layers Of Time” or “Reckless” for the first time. What it seems to have been an European premiere was the new version of “Tight Rope” (“darker”, according to Andrea Ferro), to be featured in a re-edition of “Comalies”, on its 20th anniversary in October, where all tracks will bear similar changes. “Heaven’s A Lie”, however, was performed in its original version.

The beauty and congeniality of Cristina Scabbia, along the greatness of her voice, are indeed the perfect pack of the so-called gothic/alternative metal and no one was disappointed in the end of “Nothing Stands In Our Way”. Highlights? Oh, so many! Plus that’s something that always depends on each other’s preferences. My own was “The House Of Shame”.
