BENIGHTED are held very dear by the Portuguese audience, and if you think it’s weird to use such term in association with a brutal death/grind band, then you don’t know that Julien Truchan says all their tunes are “love songs”. In one of them (“Necrobreed”), Julien raised the moshers’ bar by challenging them to show what they got in the 1:24 that the song lasts. Needless to say the venue witnessed a pitched battle, which went on till the final “Let The Blood Spill Between My Broken Teeth”. But before that, there were more tender moments, when “Martyr” was dedicated to the late Trevor Strnad (BLACK DAHLIA MURDER) and “Hostile” to André Matos of the Laurus organization.
