We all know the general mess that travelling by plane has been, so when it was announced that DECAPITATED were forced to bring forward their gig one day, due to flight changes, no one was really surprised. Liking it or not, now that depended on the plans of each festival-goer, but to those who attended the show, it only took the instrumental intro “From The Nothingness With Love” to go totally bananas and welcome the Polish band as they deserved.
They’re using the European festival tour to promote “Cancer Culture”, released in May, but they went through almost all their discography, wrapping it up with “Nine Steps”. They looked genuinely happy to return to Portugal and see all those mosh pits so active (not sure if the security guys were that happy with all the crowd-surfers they had to attend to, one after the other…). And drinking our beer, which led guitarist Vogg to admit he didn’t even remembered the last time DECAPITATED had played here. He mentioned the concert where they warmed up for MESHUGGAH (2012), but in the north they also played the following year, supporting CHILDREN OF BODOM. Regarding the whole country, their last visit had been in 2019, at Moita Metal Fest. Good beer indeed…
