Watching a black metal band play at five in the afternoon is always weird – although it’s morbidly funny seeing the corpse paint melt under the heat – but the fans reaction (there was a handful there – not too many, but a handful) reminded me of a certain ice cream slogan, “who likes it, likes it anytime”.

Given that The Beast introduced the songs in black-metalese, only said fans must have recognized the titles, but a quick visit to YouTube (thank you, Fátima Inácio Gomes!) gave me at least one song played that afternoon: “Secrets Of Existence And Chaos”, out of their most recent work “Cadere Et Resurgere”, an EP released in January 2020. The sophomore full-length is in the works,“Sonneillon The Demon Of Hate”, and a teaser for the single “Spells In The Bones Of Traitors” has been rolling for seven months now, so they probably played that one too. If not, see this reference as an advertisement for such song.
