MASTERPLAN‘s self-titled debut album sits on some shelf of the house as it features Janne Warman on keyboards and I’m a huge fan of the guy, even if not exactly fond of this particular project (just a matter of personal taste, nothing to do with their musical talent). Meaning that they’ve played five songs out of that album – “Enlighten Me”, “Spirit Never Die”, “Kind Hearted Light”, “Soulburn” and “Heroes” – but it was like listening to them for the first time. Just like I didn’t realize until this gig that 15 years had already passed… 15 years and 5 more albums, although the latest one, “PumpKings”, is a record of HELLOWEEN covers – songs co-written by Roland Grapow back when he was their guitarist. Lucky for me, they chose one of my favorites to play live: “The Time Of The Oath”.

It was also nice to see former STRATOVARIUS bassist Jari Kainulainen again, who apparently joined MASTEPLAN in 2012.
